Adulting: First tip to being an adult.
Sometimes I feel like I missed out on a guide to be an adult. Sometimes when I see my peers, they seemingly look like they are doing great at life, like they know what to do to be an adult. I am here trying to tell myself to breathe and telling myself I didn't fucked up yet, and I am still on my way to being an adult.
AND its alright! It's alright to feel lost, its alright to not know what is your passion. Its alright to want to be a night owl. Just as long as we remain a functioning member of society, and we can be who we want.
A little intro: I am 32 years old, I finished Uni when I was 22 years old. I have been working for 10 years now. And I do not know everything! I don't, I am still learning. And why I am writing this, is because I felt so lost after I graduated Uni, and if i could find out better information when I was maturing, it could really help me. So I am just writing things that I feel like if I knew these kind of things when I am in my 20's, I think it would kinda help me get thru life just a little easier.. so yeah.
I am not a very good writer, so its also a good practice for me to write down and learn to form proper sentences and hopefully write something funny/educational/inspirational/entertaining for people to read.
So first step towards adulting?
Track your expenses! Know your numbers, know how much you are earning, spending, saving and investing. I wish I tracked my numbers when I was in my 20's, at least I would have a reason for why I was constantly broke. Its like money just magically disappeared. If I have tracked it, I could identify where my money went.
I recommend using mobile apps, or excel sheet or even basic pen & paper method. You really gotta try all of them to find out which method you prefer. I used apps like Fortune City (you track your expenses and incomes and you build city) and Monefy. Now I use pen & paper to track my expenses. There's pros and cons to all the methods but really you just gotta find one that you like.
my own Fortune City app.
Anyway this is my first post and I hope to continue giving my experience to being an Adult ( I feel like around 50% adult right now? ah Self-doubt, gotta love that.)
